Jessica Spears, LCSW

Jessica Spears has been supporting individuals and families since 2009 upon receiving her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Appalachian State University. After graduation, Jessica began working with hospice where she provided direct care to patients and their families. While working closely with other disciplines, each patient received a “total care” approach. Jessica received her Masters degree in social work from the Joint Master of Social Work Program through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T in 2012.

Currently, Jessica serves a broad spectrum of clients with various needs and continues to use a “total care” approach in treatment. She is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association). Additionally, she is also an EMDR Consultant-in-Training, providing the consultation hours required for other therapists completing their own certification. Jessica knows the strength EMDR provides in healing trauma and uses it effectively in many client treatment plans.

In addition to her EMDR certification, Jessica is also trained in multiple therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and support groups. She provides treatment to clients presenting for support with various needs/disorders/behaviors, including, but not limited to, grief and loss, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, pain management and suffering, mindfulness, and parenting skills.

Jessica has worked with many difficult cases successfully. She has the ability to support complicated individual and family situations increasing the likelihood of success. It’s Jessica’s clinical awareness and excellent work ethic that increases her ability to be successful with clients.

Therapy of Hickory is privileged to have her as part of our clinical team.

“We have to embrace our past, present, and future to begin the healing process.”
